Canesten 500mg Soft Gel Pessary: contains the active ingredient clotrimazole, which is an antifungal medicine used to treat infections with fungi and yeasts. Canesten pessary is a single dose treatment for Candidal Vaginitis. It uses an applicator which allows you to go straight to the site of the infection for effective treatment of Candidal Vaginitis.

What is thrush?

Thrush is an infection caused by a yeast called Candida. This yeast normally lives in your body quite happily without doing you any harm. But when the natural pH balance of your vagina is upset - which can easily happen - Candida can multiply. And that's when you may start to itch and develop thrush.

What are the symptoms?

The main symptom - and by far the most irritating - is the itching. You may also feel a burning soreness and this can be accompanied by a whitish odourless discharge.

Though very uncomfortable, these symptoms can be sorted out quickly and easily, by treating at the site of infection as well as soothing the irritation.

Most women seek help for relief of external itching. However, it is important that the infection is treated internally as well as externally, to prevent symptoms from returning.

How to use Canesten Soft Gel Pessary: Using the applicator insert the soft gel pessary as high as possible into the vagina.

Ingredients:

Caneten Soft Gel Pessary contains: White soft paraffin, liquid paraffin, gelatin, glycerol, water, titanium dioxide (E171), quinoline yellow (E104), sunset yellow (E110), lecithin, medium-chain triglycerides.

Warnings:

Medical advice should be sought if this is the first time the patient has experienced symptoms of candidal vaginitis. Before using Canesten Soft Gel Pessaries, medical advice must be sought if any of the following are applicable:- more than two infections of candidal vaginitis in the last 6 months. - previous history of sexually transmitted disease or exposure to partner with sexually transmitted disease. - pregnancy or suspected pregnancy. - aged under 16 or over 60 years. - known hypersensitivity to imidazoles or other vaginal antifungal products.Canesten Soft Gel Pessaries should not be used if the patient has any of the following symptoms where upon medical advice should be sought: - irregular vaginal bleeding. - abnormal vaginal bleeding or a blood-stained discharge. - vulval or vaginal ulcers, blisters or sores. - lower abdominal pain or dysuria. - any adverse events such as redness, irritation or swelling associated with the treatment.- fever or chills.- nausea or vomiting. - diarrhoea.- foul smelling vaginal discharge.
